Natürlich in Kunststoff - Partnerschaft rund um DURO- und THERMOPLAST
Graduate of the Saxony University of Cooperative Education / now: Saxony Cooperative University
Degree programme: Industrial Engineering
Specialisation: Production Engineering
The dual study programme at BA-Sachsen is characterised above all by the 3-month practical and theoretical
phases, which alternate in cycles, making the course very varied and practice-oriented.
The knowledge acquired during the theoretical phases can be directly applied in practice and lays the foundation for successful work within a company. The Industrial Engineering degree programme is underpinned by technical and scientific subjects such as mathematics, materials science, engineering physics, thermodynamics and information technology. As the programme progresses, the focus increasingly shifts to business-related subjects such as the fundamentals of business administration, process data management and management methods. The consolidation of the course content is supported by numerous practical examples and experiments carried out in the BA-Bautzen laboratory building.
As a student at SchoPlast Plastic GmbH, I work in process optimisation and am involved, amongst other things, in minor optimisation measures, as well as the planning and implementation of automation solutions and the procurement of new technical equipment to carry out my project work.
After completing my A-levels in 2022, I initially wanted to study mechanical engineering in Dresden; however, as the focus there is primarily on theory, I ultimately decided on a practice-oriented dual study programme. Through personal contacts, I then became aware of a vacant study place at SchoPlast Plastic GmbH.
I am currently in my fourth semester of my degree and am writing my second project on the design of an automatic parts feeding system from production machines to a shot blasting machine.

“I joined SchoPlast Plastic GmbH in 2005 through a temporary employment agency. Initially, I took on tasks in the finishing department. Later, I was appointed as a shift supervisor, initially on a temporary basis and then permanently. Today, I work as a forewoman in the finishing department.
My main responsibilities lie in quality control of the manufactured parts.
I am the point of contact for staff in the finishing department and monitor their performance. Working at SchoPlast Plastic GmbH is just right for me, as my responsibilities are varied and diverse, and I have brilliant, team-oriented colleagues who are a pleasure to work with.”

„After finishing school, I looked for an apprenticeship in my home town. As SchoPlast Plastic GmbH was already the largest employer in Bischofswerda at the time, and I have a keen interest in technology and machinery, I applied for a place as a process mechanic specialising in plastics and rubber technology in 2007. During my apprenticeship, my main tasks involved machine maintenance, programming handling systems and setting up machines. From 2014 until early 2017, SchoPlast Plastic GmbH enabled me to complete my Industrial Master’s qualification in Plastics Technology whilst working.
Today, I am a foreman in the injection moulding department, which means, amongst other things, that I am responsible for staff and production planning and conduct training sessions with my colleagues. I am also the training coordinator and, as such, responsible for the complete supervision of apprentices, from the initial interview right through to the completion of their vocational qualification.
The challenge I face in my day-to-day work is managing customer orders from production right through to preparation for dispatch – in other words, ensuring the right quantity, of the right quality, at the right time.”
